In particular we are interested in the wide and varied out door activities that are available to locals and visitors.
We have chosen Salobreña in the site name because this delightful andalusian white village is the very epicentre of the Costa Tropical.
The coast is back dropped by the Sierra Nevada Mountain range and this provides a multitude of weather patterns ideal for various sporting activities.
In particular those sports depending on wind & air pressure (al brisas) such as Hang gliding, sailing, wind surfing & kite boarding.

There are lots of excellent restaurants and general yachting facilities on the dock side including a 30 ton travel hoist for large craft.
Boat hire is possible from both Marina Del Esté and via the Peurto Deportivo in Motril
Sport and activities not affected so much by the wind and weather paterns are also plentiful, especially those which benefit from the mountains and hills.
The foothills of the Sierra Nevada and the Valleys of the Alpujarra, are perfect for walking, horse riding and trekking.
This is an area to discover, small country villages that have remained unchanged for generations - with perhaps the exception of the Internet which every house now seems to have available.
The Sierra Nevada Ski Resort is within an hour or so from any point on the Costa Tropical. Sierra Nevada is now the top destination in Spain for snow boarding as well as the excellent ski runs.

La Herradura is the hub for scuba on the Costa Tropical, boat and beach dives are available.
Hang Gliding is also popular for experienced flyers and also beginners. First timers will often start out with a tandem flight in the hands of a professional instructor.
