La Herradura is a small Andalucian white village situated in a large beautiful horse shoe bay. There is over a mile of beaches. The name "La Herradura" means ‘horse shoe’ in Spanish and this is just how the bay looks, enclosed by two huge rocky points - one at either end.
La Herradura is principally a Spanish family resort during the summer months but throughout the rest of the year is a working vibrant village.
There are a number of Dive Schools located in La Herradura. The area is known as one of Spain’s best Diving locations.
There are a number of sheltered bays close by and there is always a good place to dive, normally with excellent visibility to observe the plentiful fish life.
For Good reason this area is called “Costa Tropical” (and is 5 KM from the resort town of Almunecar, 7 Km. from Nerja, 80 Km from Málaga.
La Herradura also has a large number of “Chiringuitos” ( typical beach restaurants) you will be sure to enjoy the local seafood, expertly cooked on the edge of the beach.
